Big Girl...

Riley is a very active baby so i always have to change up our routine, otherwise she gets bored. Isn't that suppose to come later in life?? Anyways today i decided to drag out the high chair. No she's not big enough to sit up by herself yet or eat solid foods. But i figured if i stuffed a blanket around her she could sit up (she prefers NOT to lay down now!) That lasted for about 10 minutes and that's only because the t.v. was on. I know it's bad for her to watch t.v.....especially this young, but i figured right now she's probably just looking at it for the bright lights and colors. So its ok.....or at least that's what i tell myself!

We've also been trying to do more 'tummy time' to "fix" her bald spot that is starting to form and to help her strengthen her neck muscles, but she HATES to be on her belly. I guess its because we didn't put her on her stomach any when she was first born, but we keep trying to make her like it...

Some updates:

• she drools WAY more now....hopefully the teeth will wait until i get finished with school!!
• she sucks on her bottom lip while she's awake instead of her paci
• she eats 5oz. every 3hrs for my grandmother and 2-3oz. every 3-4hrs for everyone else (not sure what thats about but we're working on it!)
• she sleeps alot less during the day, making it difficult to get anything done
• she still doesn't sleep through the night
• she likes her bouncy seat b/c when she kicks it lights up!
• she's out of newborn clothes but only b/c she's soooo long
• she's laughing and smiling alot more....and it's just precious!
• she turns her head towards people talking to her or sounds she likes (and sometimes she avoids looking at momma b/c she knows her picture is about to be taken!!)
• and she's kinda developing a little attitude
• Oh...and she's 3 months old now. I can't believe it!!

It's really funny to watch because she completely stops flailing her arms and legs and just stares at my phone (it's my ring tone).

This post is not about Riley or our family. It's about a family who is trying to raise money for LeBonheur Children's Hospital. My friend and her family were nominated to be Miracle Maker Family of the Year. The hospital chooses a few families each year to help raise money. This is very important to them because their son/grandson has been in and out of LeBonheur for the past 3 years. I'll give you a quick run-down of his story... He had a stroke when he was 2 years old due to a clump of bacteria that was on one of his heart valve and broke off traveling straight to his brain. His brain then began to swell so they had to remove a piece of his skull. He has had multiple surgeries trying to put his skull back in but because of his already weak immune system it got infected every time. He now has a prosthetic piece in place of it, which was just put in this past December. He also had to have surgery on his heart to remove the bacteria. He is now a kindergartener and doing fine thanks to his doctors and nurses at LeBonheur. So if you would like to help out and donate, I am taking up money for them. Even if it's just a dollar...every little bit helps!! Thanks, Britney

Happy Valentine's Day Riley Bear!!

I know you're only two and a half months old and you could probably care less if we got you a present or not....but we did. And to help you remember it i took some pictures for you. I love you sweetness. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Personality

So i'm sure i won't normally post more than once a day but i realized how lame the other one was so i figured i would throw another one out there!

I'll tell you a little about Riley...

• She is a pretty easy going baby. She usually only gets upset when she needs/wants something. However when she does need something, she lets you know!
• She gets bored easily so i have to change up things all the time. We tried getting her on a schedule but she shot that down quickly. However i'm thinking i need to try again so if anyone has any suggestions of how to "make" her conform.... the suggestion box is open.
• Here recently she started shaking her head no. Now i know she doesn't know what it means yet but she manages to do it at the appropriate times. It's pretty funny!!
• Last time we went to the doctor (2.6.09 for her 2 month check-up) she weighed 11lbs. 11oz & she was 24inches long. She also got her first set of shots, which made her SCREAM! It was bad!
• Her new favorite thing is to lay on her play mat and bat at the dangling toys.
• We also just tried out her bouncy seat and the bumbo seat.. She loves them both.
• She still doesn't sleep through the night and here lately she has started waking up about 3:30 or 4:00 wanting to play! It's one thing for her to wake up every 4hrs to eat but now she wants to play too?! But hopefully soon she will learn to catch her Zzzz during the dark hours like the rest of the world.

Riley

Ok i've never done one of these before and i really don't know what to say or exactly how to do it....so don't make fun!!

This is Keegan Riley Johnson...but we call her Riley. She was born December 5th, 2008 weighing 6lbs. 12oz. & 20 and a half inches long. She was very difficult to dress in the beginning because she was so long and skinny!

This is a picture of her in the hospital...she was actually in the santa hat!
